Halloween in Prague: Parties, Costumes & Where to Buy Them
Halloween isn’t a traditional Czech holiday, but that doesn’t stop Prague from celebrating it. Czechs never need much of an excuse for a good party, and every year more bars, clubs and student parties around the city join in. Around October 31, you’ll see more people in costumes on the streets of Prague than ever.
How Czechs celebrate Halloween
Czechs have spooky traditions of their own: burning witches on April 30 (Pálení čarodějnic) and remembering the dead in early November (Dušičky). Halloween has found its place in the calendar too, mostly as a night of costume parties, especially at universities and bars. Looking for more ideas? Halloween costume ideas
First, decide who you want to be. The classics never fail: a vampire, a witch or a zombie. Prefer something less scary? Go for a cheerful hippie or a 1920s Great Gatsby look.
The details make the costume. Add vampire teeth and fangs, fake wounds and scars, coloured contact lenses, a wig or horror makeup, and you’ll be the star of the party.
